Each time we speak with a potential customer who’s looking to construct a steel building, there’s always a handful of questions that we get asked time and time again. The following are a few of the most frequently asked questions we receive on a regular basis. We know customers are always looking for the best value, the most customization options and most importantly, a long lasting structural investment and these answers to our most frequently asked questions will help with their understanding of what will suit their needs.

Most Frequently Asked Questions – What Customization Options are Available?

We offer portable foundation and permanent foundation kits, coloured endwalls in forest green, stone white, Sahara tan, walnut brown and plain steel. We also provide steel building insulation, ventilation options as well as custom door options. Most Frequently Asked Questions – What do I Need to Build a Steel Building?

In order to build a steel building, all you really need is a cordless drill and wrench. You don’t need any framing or carpentry skills to erect your steel building, as everything is measured and precut at the factory.

Our steel building can be erected individually, but it’s always helpful to have an extra friend or two with you to make the process even smoother. This is especially true when it comes to raising the steel arches into place. With a few tools, some friends and a bit of time you will have your steel building constructed with ease!

Most Frequently Asked Questions – How Quickly Can a Steel Building be Constructed?

how hard is it to build a DIY steel building

Constructing a steel building is a fairly simple process and consists of four main steps that can be completed in a weekend or a few days. It is not uncommon for our clients to finish installation within a day or two, which makes it an easy weekend project. The following is a quick breakdown of the four steps:

  • 1

Pour the Footings – This is the most important step. Make sure your foundation is level and of the correct dimensions to bolt the arches down to the footing.

  • 2

Assemble the Arches – With a socket wrench, you will be able to quickly assemble the steel building arches and have them ready to be raised

  • 3

Raise the Arches – Have a friend help you raise the arches, and bolt them down to place in your foundation

  • 4

Assemble Endwalls & Finishing Touches – Attach steel endwalls, insert doors, windows, ventilation and all finishing touches to your steel building. You will only need a power drill and a wrench to complete the installation.

Most Frequently Asked Questions – Should I Hire a Contractor?

Our steel buildings are designed for ease of construction, and come with detailed installation instructions. The most complicated part of the entire process is preparing the foundation. If you don’t feel comfortable building the foundation, it is best you hire a contractor to do this for you so that the structure is completely level and secured properly to the base. You may also choose to hire a contractor to construct the steel building in its entirety.
